SPNH 122L5 Beginning Spanish II [GEKH or GELB] The second semester of beginning Spanish covering basic principles of grammar. Practice in elementary conversation, pronunciation, composition, and reading. Regular use of Internet resources.

Rationale for Knowledge of the Disciplines - To be able to communicate in Spanish and appreciate linguistic and cultural similarities and differences, SPNH 122L5 students learn to produce through speaking and writing, and to understand through reading and listening the elements of the Spanish language necessary to be able to function at a basic level in a Spanish speaking environment. Instruction in SPNH 122L5 provides examples of speaking and writing that native speakers use to accomplish real tasks; students learn to master these structures while developing a new perspective on their own language, and an appreciation of foreign cultural viewpoint.
