CTAT 130 Introduction to Digital Media [GEKS] An introduction to digital media systems in the United States. Emphasis on development of digital media industries including radio, television, cable and the Internet. Programming, technologies, government regulation, financial support and social effects are covered.

 Rationale for Knowledge of the Disciplines - This course is designed to foster an understanding of the numerous media systems and the messages they create. Entertainment, news, advertising are consumed by us all over a variety of devices. These systems and their messages can often be complex and influence us in different ways. This course is a first step in simplifying that complexity by studying how our media systems operate, how they work together, and how they interact with our social, political, and cultural realities.
