Objectives
- To prepare professionals who understand and apply human resource and organizational development techniques in ways that lead to greater organizational effectiveness.
- To prepare professionals who understand and are able to plan, implement and manage change processes, whether in positions internal to an organization (managerial or staff support) or as external consultants.
- To prepare professionals who understand the need to match organizational needs with human resource needs and are able to implement appropriate systems related to structure, process, and human resources.

The GMAT/GRE requirement will be waived for students who meet any of the following requirements:
- Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 in a BBA degree from an AACSB-accredited college of business
- Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.2 in other bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university
- At least five years of managerial experience in HR/OD (as determined by designated MSHROD faculty committee) and/or senior HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, GPHR or equivalent)
- A Master’s or terminal degree from universities with an AACSB accredited college/school of business (master’s degrees from any other institutions need to be approved by the MSHROD faculty committee).
- Cumulative graduate GPA of 3.5 in the Graduate Certificate in Management , the Graduate Certificate in Human Resources , or the Graduate Certificate in Organizational Development .

International students must complete an English proficiency exam from one of the following testing agencies TOEFL, IELTS, MELAB or PTE. Exam scores must be sent directly to EMU from the testing agency.
Minimum scores required: TOEFL (79), IELTS (6.5), MELAB (77), and PTE (78).

Foundation/Prerequisite Courses: 12 hours
Nine hours of graduate or undergraduate non-management courses spread across three business functional areas (marketing, law, economics, accounting, and finance). One three-hour course from these nine hours must be either an accounting or a finance course. Students must also demonstrate a proficiency in using computer applications including Word, Power Point and Excel spreadsheets. In addition, students must take:

Students with an undergraduate course in organizational theory and behavior may be required to substitute an elective for MGMT 505 .
Students who have taken an undergraduate course in human resources management/personnel administration or equivalent within the past 5 years, may be required to substitute an elective for MGMT 509 .
