Revised Program [Fall 2024]
Make a musical difference in the lives of individuals, groups, families, and communities. The Bachelor of Music Therapy degree combines science, artistry, and caring; it also guides the development and refinement of musical, clinical, and interpersonal skills to address a range of non-musical therapeutic goals.
Learn
Successful graduates of the Bachelor of Music Therapy program will have demonstrated musical, therapeutic, clinical, professional /ethical, and research competencies (as identified by the American Music Therapy Association) and completed a minimum of 1200 hours of clinical training (including a minimum of 900 hours full- time clinical training internship). Students learn the therapeutic potentials within the elements of music both biologically and psychologically and develop skills in applying those elements to specific therapeutic goals and objectives. Students learn to observe and record responses and interpret therapeutic effects while working with individuals and groups in our on-campus Music Therapy Center and various community settings.
Opportunities
Graduates can apply for the Music Therapist—Board Certified (MT-BC) credential, which enables them to provide music therapy services in hospitals, schools, eldercare centers, hospices, community mental health, health promotion settings, and with various populations.
