SPLI 468 Education of Children with Learning Disabilities and other Mild Disabilities This course will be deleted effective Fall 2023 and replaced with SPLI 360 .
This course is designed to increase your awareness of learning disabilities from a number of viewpoints and theoretical perspectives. While the course emphasizes understanding the issues surrounding the field of learning disabilities, it also examines creating an IEP, and remediation of learning and behavior problems. Providing modifications and accommodations to the general education teacher is a major part of the course. Topics range from legislation pertaining to learning disabilities, history, teaching and intervention, working with families, transition, case studies, and current research about learning disabilities and mild disabilities related to learning disabilities.
