Rationale for Learning Beyond the Classroom - Students gain hands-on training and experience in archaeological fieldwork (reconnaissance, site surveys, and excavations) designed to prepare them for the field of Cultural Resource Management-the industry under which most archaeology is conducted within the U. S. The course provides the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom to actual field experiences implementing methods while also serving the community. As such, the course provides students with the experience to advance their interests and goals for career paths in archaeology, other anthropological subfields, or related fields, while also providing structured channels for professional development opportunities.
