ARTS 105 Photography for Non-Majors [GEKA]


This is an introductory course in photography that explores the techniques, aesthetics and conceptual strategies for making art with a camera. Students are exposed to general photographic processes and history as it relates to the medium. Students are required to purchase their own camera and supplies, please contact the instructor for specifics.

Rationale for Knowledge of the Disciplines - The visual arts communicate, express, record, capture, affect and reflect the world around us. The knowledge of how and why art has been created, how art relates to history and contemporary culture and an understanding of creative processes are an important part of any student’s general education  program. This course allows students to become familiar with the visual arts and the artistic process through an in-depth exploration of a single media (photography) and the tools/concepts associated with it.
