MATH 311W Mathematical Problem Solving [GEWI] Topics include function injectivity and surjectivity, cardinality, and equivalence relations/partitions. The focus is on reading and writing proofs with growing sophistication, practicing conventions of mathematical writing, and developing mathematical habits through problem-solving. These goals are realized by exploring open-ended problems in algebra, combinatorics, number theory, or calculus.
