PHIL 294 Introduction to Chinese Philosophy This course covers some of the major texts in the history of Chinese philosophy, which will be closely studied to glean insights from the Chinese tradition and compare them with concepts and arguments from the Western tradition. Topics may vary but will likely include views of reality, socio-political philosophy, philosophy of law, environmental philosophy, ethics, views of knowledge, and aesthetics. Students will learn how to read and interpret philosophical texts in translation, approach major philosophical concerns from fresh perspectives, and apply those insights to their lives and contemporary philosophical debates.
