Advisor Information


A faculty advisor will help you determine which courses to take and what sequence to take them to ensure that you satisfy your degree requirements as efficiently as possible. For a list of faculty advisors for specific interest areas, please follow this link.

If you have not already seen a Biology faculty advisor, you should make an appointment as soon as possible and schedule yearly appointments after that. Students are strongly encouraged to make annual appointments with a departmental advisor by contacting the Biology Department Office, 734.487.4242.

Minor Requirements: 22 hours


It is recommended that students begin with either BIO 110 /111  or BIO 120 /121   in their first or second year. Students who have not completed a high school biology course should take BIO 105  before enrolling in BIO 110 /111   or BIO 120 /121   Please note that BIO 105  cannot be used to fulfill biology minor requirements but will count towards the 120 credit hours required for graduation. Students need to take CHEM 121 /122  and CHEM 123 /124  to satisfy the prerequisites for BIO 305 .

Restricted Elective Course: 3 hours


Choose one course from the following.

Elective Courses: 6 hours


Select six hours at the 300- or 400-level in biology selected from the courses below.

No more than six hours of BIO 387L4  and BIO 497L6 -499L6  can be counted toward the minor. BIO 320  or  may be used to satisfy this requirement, not both.
